Acura History and Models

Acura (Japanese: アキュラ, Akyura) is a Japanese automobile company which is the luxury division of Honda Motor Company. This company introduced the Honda in March 1986 in the United States market, Canada, and Hong Kong. Then also introduced in Mexico in 2004 and China in 2006. But the new Honda will introduce this brand in the Japanese market around 2010. With this Acura brand, Honda is making itself as the first Japanese car manufacturer entered the luxury car market abroad. Before Acura, Japanese cars are exported more emphasis on simple designs and low prices rather than a luxury car. Headquartered in Tokyo.

1980s: The establishment Acura


After about a decade of research, Honda opened 60 dealerships in North America in 1986 to support the automobile division Acura. Acura was the first Japanese luxury car brand that was introduced, with the launch of the Acura Legend and Integra. Legend is the development of the Honda Accord and Honda Integra is a development of Quint. The success of Honda makes other Japanese manufacturers come to make its luxury car brands (such as Toyota with Lexusnya founded in 1989 and Nissan with Infinitinya).
